Day 10 (?)

A photo of your favorite place to eat

Pizza hut! It's possibly the best place in my town to eat (and yes this is a picture of the actual pizza hut in my town). I love the bbq americano pizza they do and the free salad bar!

Day 7........

Your Dream Wedding

I have no idea what my dream wedding is. I've never fantasised about what my wedding will be like. I guess the most I can say for this day is my dream wedding will be to someone who loves me just as much as I love them, whilst surronded by friends and family.

Sorry guys! I've just never really given this one any thought, maybe when I'm in a relationship and actually see it going somewhere I might have something more to say about a dream wedding.

Day 6.....

A photo of an animal you’d love to keep as a pet

I would love a dog. I know this might not seem unusual for a pet or anything but I rent. Under the terms of my contract I am not supposed to keep any pets and IF my landlady was to give me permission to keep a pet I would have to put an extra £100 into my rent bond to cover any damage they may cause in the home. For this reason I don't have a dog.

However I would to have a dog like the king charles spaniel in the photo (courtesy of google!). I would love a small dog who could curl up on my lap and keep me company in an evening.

Apart from the issues with my rent bond, due to my health a dog is not a practical pet for me to have. When on average every 3months I am not at home due to being on IVs, I wouldn't have anyone to look after the dog and my parents wouldn't want a dog in their home again. To be a responsible owner I would need to take the dog for a walk every day and I can't commit to that. When I am feeling unwell or the weather is very bad walks probably wouldn't happen and that doesn't seem fair. So instead I dogsit for my friend and go play with her dogs instead, which isn't quite the same but is the closest I am going to get to being a dog-owner!

Day 5...

Talk about your pets

As a child I had a couple of different pets- a fish that I won at the fair and as a teenager a hamster. As a family we got a dog when I was about 8years old. Her name was Cindy and below is a picture of her:

Cindy was a lovely dog and very loyal. Whilst she was a family pet her favourite person was my sister. The reason behind that is because my sisters bedroom was the one that had the hot pipes running underneath it so her room was always nice and warm and she loved spending time in there. Cindy was a rescue dog and was part of our family for 7years before she had to be sadly put down. She was not a dog who liked to play fetch but she did enjoy walks when you took her on them and she would play tug of war with you with her raggy rope!

After Cindy died I did not have anymore pets for quite some time. The next pet I had was a hamster which I got when I moved into a place of my own. My hamsters name was Skittles and below is a picture of skittles:
This is one of my favouritest pictures of Skittles as it looks like she is hiding but she generally wasn't that shy. She was a very tame hamster and would be happily handled. I had Skittles for just over a year before she too sadly died. About 6 months after losing Skittles I got another new hamster called Harry:

I got Harry when he was about 6weeks old so still just a baby. This is a picture of Harry just after I got him, he is now huge in comparison to this photo. My nephew helped me pick this hamster and we partly share him (he lives at my house but my nephew always asks abouts him and will help look after him if he needs to. My nephew also named him!). I have now had Harry for nearly 7months. He too is a very tame hamster and will happily be handled.

Day 4.....

.........Favourite photo of your best friends

so although I take alot of photos I don't have alot of photos of my best friends. This is the best one I have so I guess it's my favourite one of them. This was taken New Years Eve 2010. S has been my friend for nearly 14years now and I have known J properly for the last 2years (they are married). The teddy I am holding is Trike, who is actually J's dinosaur. There is a long story behind Trike so I won't go into it. S and J and great friends and I feel honoured to be part of their lives. They are about to enter exciting times as S is due to give birth any day now and I have already been asked to be Godmother to their child!! I couldn't ask for better friends than these 2.

Day 3.....

.... Your Idea of the perfect first date

The perfect first date hmmmmmmmm, I genuinely have no idea on this one. I guess the perfect first date would be an activity which allowed you to talk to the person and get to know them but not too intimate so it doesn't feel to weird or uncomfortable. I don't think the cinema makes a good first date as you can't actually talk to the person, I think thats more of a third or fourth date kind of thing.

So erm the perfect first date maybe a meal or meeting for a cup of tea/coffee. Something pretty casual as you can always move onto do other things from both of those if you get on well and if you don't it wont be awkward to say goodbye.

As you can probably tell I'm not so good at the whole dating thing, I've never really gone on any proper dates as such, all my relationships have kind of just started so its hard to think about what I would see as a perfect first date if I was meeting a complete stranger with the view to going out with them.

I guess this day hasn't really told you a lot more about me has it!

Blog Challenge Day 2

Your favourite movie

This is a tough one! I have a lot of films I could watch time and time again but I guess the one that wins is the one I used to watch alot of in my childhood. I would literally rewind the video of this film and then press play again. I don't watch it so much now but it's still a film I would never ever get rid of. So my favourite film is:

Annie!

I've always loved Annie, there was a stage where I literally knew it word for word. There's something about Annie's belief that everything will work out ok one day that is really rather compelling. She was having a tough life yet still remained positive. Who can't learn a life lesson from that??? Plus some catchy songs in there and it's a complete winner!!!!

Who am i? from Les Miserables

This song tops my most listened to in itunes, so I guess it's my favourite song for the time being!

Catch-up

So this weekend was the beaver sleepover! The kids arrived for 10.30am and left at 2.30pm the following day, thats 28hours with twenty eight 6-8yr olds!! That is a long time to keep that many children occupied and happy. However we did it! The beavers all had a fantastic time. They didn't know when things went slightly wrong and our programme ran behind schedule because they were too busy having fun (it was just the leaders getting slightly frazzled). A few got upset around bedtime which was expected, it was their first time away from family and they suddenly realised that along with being extremely tired! However they all stayed and nearly all slept really well. Some of the leaders (including myself) got very little sleep, whilst some got more. However that is just the way it goes.

When I got home from the sleepover at 4pm I unpacked my car, got some washing in the machine and then mainly sat on the sofa trying not to fall asleep. I went to bed at 8pm as I could no longer keep my eyes open, by half past eight I was fast asleep. I did not wake again until just gone 9am this morning. That still wasn't enough sleep and by lunchtime today I was yawning my head off again. In fact I will be surprised if I see 9pm tonight I'm that tired. All I did this morning was update the beaver record cards to reflect the activities they had done on the sleepover and work out what badges they had earnt (5 of them!). That was enough to make me want to fall asleep on the sofa.

This afternoon I made it to my parents house and had a cup of tea with my mum and a good old catch-up chat (I haven't really seen her in the last two weeks because she has been away on holiday with just a few days at home in between). Then I've been sat on my sofa again struggling with staying awake. I think all that is left for me to do tonight is my nebulisers and then get into bed and sleep.

Last Thursday I de-activated my facebook account. Only 1 person sent a message to see what was going on because they noticed I was missing. I informed a couple of others I had de-activated so they didn't need to worry that they had been deleted. I have over 200 people on my facebook, of which at least half have some other way of contacting me. It's nice to know that you're not missed.

Difficult phone calls

I've just had to make 2 of the most difficult phone calls I've had to make in a long time.

I'm sure most of you are aware that I'm a leader within scouting. Well unfortunately one of the cubs in the group I am a leader at is extremely poorly. He is only 10yrs old and has just been diagnosed with a form of cancer that is currently knocking him for 6. Well we are a village group and most of his fellow cubs have been informed of this already because they attend the same school and the school made the decision to tell the children in the school.

2 of the cubs are not in the same school and I have just had to phone their parents so they can tell their children before coming to the meeting tonight. They are difficult phone calls. I have been so upset and worried for this cub myself for the last week, so to then remain calm and reassuring myself to tell others was very difficult. However these kids needed to know before they stepped into the pack meeting and found out from another child. I feel this topic is to sensitive and should be broached by the parents. If the other cubs had not been told at school, I certainly wouldn't of been telling any them! They know he is poorly and that would of been enough for them.

I do not know his prognosis at the moment, all I know is he has been in hospital for 3weeks and his mum hasn't left his bedside in that time and his dad hasn't left his bedside for the last 2weeks (when it became clear just how ill he was). He has a younger brother who is devastated at how poorly his brother is and the fact he hasnt seen his mum and dad for so long (he is not allowed to visit the hospital as they think seeing his brother so ill will just upset and worry him alot more than he currently is). This family need support and prayers.

Please think of this family and send them all the best wishes/thoughts in any way you feel able.

Life

Life can be very unfair. I need a virtual break because right now things are all a little overwhelming and looking at facebook and twitter and seeing some very inconsequential status updates are just very frustrating/irritating/annoying. It's taking A LOT of energy to refrain from commenting on some of these statuses with things I will most likely regret in the future when things seem a little better.

I won't be online for awhile because dealing with life is proving to be quite difficult recently and I have reached my limit of what I can cope with and still put on a positive face. I don't like to read constantly negative posts on facebook/twitter and so I don't want to become one of those people. When things are better and I can be positive again I will be back.

Should you have my email address/ mobile phone number I will still be responding to those. However all social network sites are currently being ignored. I contemplated deactivating facebook but decided things weren't that extreme and I have more than enough will power to not go on there until I feel happier.
